DIR: Diversity as an Innovation Resource Workshop
The goal of this workshop series was to bring together leaders and sociologists focused on different underrepresented groups in computing to collectively identify how projects, which seek to increase the number of students/professionals from underrepresented groups in computing, can use that opportunity to foster innovative projects. Each workshop will focus on a particular topic to address a key problem. The workshop series provided a mechanism whereby the underrepresented communities are engaged in developing innovations that address some specific problems initially, and broader problems in the long term. DIR 2012 was focused on math education delivery for grades 6 through 8 in under-served communities.
